Kingenta's first European slow-release fertilizer model factory was established in the Netherlands - China's slow-release fertilizer technology "going global" ushered in a milestone moment

2025-07-02

On April 3rd, Dutch time, the launching ceremony of the European station of Kingenta Group's global slow-release fertilizer promotion was held in Bern, the Netherlands. At the same time, Kingenta Group's first slow-release fertilizer model factory in Europe was officially unveiled in the Netherlands. This is China's first overseas slow-release fertilizer factory dominated by Chinese technology, and it is also the first time that Chinese fertilizer technology has been exported to Europe. After 20 years of development, China's slow-release fertilizer technology has surpassed the technology and industry of European and American countries, truly realizing "overtaking on a curve".

Kingenta Group President Wan Peng, Vice President Dong Zhizhong, National Controlled-Release Fertilizer Engineering Technology Research Center Technical Advisor Jia Liang, Dehua Holland General Manager Martin Dekker, all employees of Dehua Holland and media representatives witnessed the launch ceremony and unveiling event of the day.

Kingenta is the world's largest slow-release fertilizer manufacturer. It has led the drafting of a number of slow-release fertilizer Chinese industry standards, national standards and two international standards. It has 158 invention patents for slow-release fertilizers and other inventions in the world, and has won the National Science and Technology Award, which represents China's highest technological honor, three times. Dehua Holland is one of the leading controlled-release fertilizer production companies in Europe, with markets covering most of the world's important agricultural regions, including Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.

"The Dutch model factory combines the advantages of both China and Europe. It has more advanced technology, larger production capacity, richer product lines and lower production costs. Its products have entered the European market." Wan Peng said at the unveiling ceremony that as a core member of the European Union, the Netherlands has more stringent technical standards and environmental protection requirements for fertilizers. The successful construction of the Dutch model factory not only verifies the international competitiveness of China's slow-release fertilizer technology, but also radiates to the entire European market and realizes a global layout that leads to the whole from the point.

"In the next ten years, the market demand for coated slow-release fertilizers will grow." Martin Dekker said that sustainable development is a global trend. In the EU, Sustainable Agriculture is the most important political issue. Currently, 95% of fertilizers are still non-coated. Even a few percentage points of change in the future will be a huge growth for the slow-release fertilizer market. "As a model factory of Kingenta Group, we are coordinating development both overseas and domestically, and through comprehensive cooperation in multiple fields, we will jointly create a better agricultural prospect and future." As one of the most developed agricultural countries in the world, the first stop of Kingenta Group's global promotion of slow-release fertilizers will be in the Netherlands, taking an innovative step to demonstrate the sharing of Chinese fertilizer technology standards and industrial models in the global market. According to the plan, Kingenta Group will use the European model factory as a starting point to accelerate the export of slow-release fertilizer technology from three levels in the future, empowering global food security and ecological protection: First, we will share the slow-release fertilizer technology package with the world, and promote the slow-release fertilizer technology in friendly countries along the Belt and Road, such as Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia, through the model of "technology licensing + localized production + service export".

Second, we will continue to promote the construction and demonstration and promotion of overseas model factories, and accelerate the global promotion by providing slow-release fertilizer technology packages so that each country can "use it immediately and effectively".Third, we will use the model factories in various places as bases to give full play to their role as bridges of communication, strengthen global cooperation, and learn from and introduce excellent industrial development models to empower Chinese agriculture.

As a high-tech fertilizer, slow-release fertilizer was controlled by European and American companies more than 20 years ago. Through introduction and innovation, Kingenta Group built China's first large-scale slow-release fertilizer production line in 2006, turning foreign noble fertilizers into China's national fertilizers. From the world to China, and now from China to the world, Chinese fertilizer companies have embarked on a path of scientific and technological self-reliance. "Kingenta now has the best technology in the world in the field of slow-release fertilizers. Next, we will continue to recruit slow-release fertilizer promotion ambassadors, and launch the "one county, one product, one plan" promotion plan and the "one county, one household" service plan in China, contributing Kingenta solutions to the development of Chinese and global agriculture." Dong Zhizhong said.
